Downtown Minneapolis Parking Rip-Off

Posted by: Courtney Kuehn on: June 16, 2008

Not usually one to post a single rant such as the one that follows, but a helpful warning to anyone looking to park downtown:

Do not park at 501 Marquette (on Marquette Ave. between 6th & 5th streets). For 1 hour I paid $14! I could hardly believe it. Just one more reason (aside from reducing your carbon footprint, stress-level, and helping lessen traffic) to NOT drive in the city and use alternative transportation.

Here’s a map of parking facilities in downtown Minneapolis.

I can relate — my mother and I went to a garment district in San Francisco one day many summers ago only to find that the stores were closed for some reason — we paid $15.00 for a half an hour parking in an out-of-the-way neighborhood…….the kicker: the year was 1983!
